About Us
Our History
The program was formed in 1985 as a non-profit, community-based child care centre. The program has a history of partnership with the community. It is owned and operated by a voluntary board of directors, most of whom are parents of children in the program.
Our Philosophy
Devonshire Child Care Centre provides a safe, well-supervised facility with comfortable atmosphere in which the daily program meets the needs and interests of the participating children. The program goals are to provide both individual and group learning opportunities in both indoor and outdoor environments. The curriculum is designed to allow flexible, spontaneous activities based on the children’s interests. Following the Early Learning for Every Child Today document and How Does Learning Happen, our Registered Early Childhood Educators provide a stimulating, educational, play-based environment which guides the children’s learning, enhances their knowledge and meets their individual developmental needs.
The Devonshire Child Care Centre logo is rooted in the authentic creativity of a child who once attended the centre and drew the original illustration at its heart. Thoughtfully refined for clarity and professionalism, it preserves the essence of the child’s drawing, capturing the innocence, imagination and playfulness central to early childhood education.
The hand-drawn figure, centre, sun and bird reflect the world through a child’s eyes and emphasize the centre’s nurturing, child-first approach. Imperfect lines reinforce sincerity and trust, while the cheerful colour palette — greens for calm and growth, soft mauve for warmth and optimism, and the golden yellow for energy and creativity — establishes a balanced, inviting tone that resonates with both children and parents.
The circular frame conveys safety and community, as the curved typography enhances the inclusive and welcoming feel. Together, these elements embody joy, imagination and care, symbolizing the centre’s commitment to providing a safe, creative environment where children can thrive.
